As the University of Kansas Panhellenic Association comprises eleven chapters, the National Panhellenic Conference recommended utilizing videos and/or essays in place of Open House round (Day 1 and 2) of Fall Formal Recruitment (FFR).

The purpose of this round is for all Potential New Members (PNM) to meet every Panhellenic chapter on campus and vice versa.

We ask each PNM to create one Open House round video (see instructions below) that will be viewed by chapter Director of Recruitment and approved members. If a PNM is not fully comfortable with recording and uploading a video, we also offer the option to write a short essay. This is an either or choice; you do not need to complete both video and essay.

Chapters will also be creating Open House round videos that will be viewed with PNM recruitment groups and recruitment counselors on Day 1 and 2 of FFR. These videos will allow PNMs to learn about the chapter and will serve as the basis of their preferences on Day 2.

Whether you have decided to create a video or to write a short essay, these are the prompts you need to answer.

  • Name

  • Hometown

  • Area of study/why you chose KU

  • Why are you interested in sorority life/what are you looking for in a sorority/sisterhood?

  • Describe an experience that has taken part in shaping who you are today

  • Describe yourself in 3 words.

IIf you have chosen to create a video, it is to be a maximum of 3 minutes. You will copy your video link onto your recruitment registration form under “Video Link”. **Your video is to be self-produced, as the example shown below. Please create your video using your cell-phone or laptop webcam.

If you have chosen to write an essay, you will have a maximum of 350 words to answer the prompts on the registration form under “Open House Essay Option”.
